58th Annual · PGA TOUR Signature Event · $20 Million Purse

The 2026 RBC Heritage is the 58th annual playing of one of the PGA TOUR's most beloved events — and the premier PGA tournament on Hilton Head Island — held April 13–19 at Harbour Town Golf Links in Sea Pines Resort, Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. As a PGA TOUR Signature Event with a $20 million purse, this Hilton Head golf tournament attracts the world's top golfers to Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus's masterpiece — a precision-demanding par-71 course defined by tight fairways, small greens, and the iconic red-and-white striped lighthouse at the 18th green. Often called the Sea Pines golf tournament by locals, the RBC golf tournament is one of the most anticipated stops on the PGA TOUR schedule.

First played in 1969 when Arnold Palmer won the inaugural event, the Heritage has become synonymous with Lowcountry hospitality and the Plaid Nation tradition — where 120,000+ fans don tartan plaid and the champion receives a plaid jacket instead of a green one. Justin Thomas won the 2025 edition in a dramatic playoff against Andrew Novak.

Heritage week is also the premier event that introduces high-net-worth buyers to Hilton Head Island real estate. Many luxury property purchases begin with a Heritage visit. Explore Sea Pines luxury real estate or browse all Hilton Head communities.

The Course

Harbour Town
Golf Links

Designed by Pete Dye and Jack Nicklaus in 1969, Harbour Town Golf Links is one of the most recognizable courses in the world. At par 71 and approximately 7,099 yards, it rewards precision over power — earning its reputation as a "shotmaker's course."

The signature 18th hole is a par 4 along Calibogue Sound with the iconic red-and-white striped lighthouse as its backdrop — one of the most photographed finishing holes in professional golf. The course features tight, tree-lined fairways, small undulating greens, and strategic bunkering that demands creativity from tee to green.

The Tradition

Welcome to
Plaid Nation

The RBC Heritage is the only PGA TOUR event where the champion receives a tartan plaid jacket — a tradition rooted in the tournament's Scottish heritage and Hilton Head Island's connection to Scottish settlers. Saturday of tournament week is officially "Plaid Nation Day," when fans across the course don their finest plaid.

The Heritage Lawn transforms into a festival atmosphere with live music, Plaid Nation Games (12:00–2:00pm), food and beverage from the island's best vendors, and a social energy that sets this tournament apart from every other stop on tour.

Whether you're a first-time visitor or a Heritage veteran, Plaid Nation Day is the signature experience — and the best day to feel the unique spirit of Hilton Head Island.
